At least 50 people have been killed and more than 200 people injured after a mass shooting at a Las Vegas country music festival on Sunday night.

Police confirmed that one suspect has been killed and said that they believed there were no more shooters.

The Strip has been completely shut down after the sniper opened fire on the Route 91 Harvest country music festival from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay resort and casino, located across a junction from the event.

There were 30,000 people in attendance at the event.

Police are now looking for a woman named Marilou Danley, whom they believe may have information that could help their investigation.

Christine O’ Hanlon from Dublin was at a nearby hotel when the shooting happened;

“All of a sudden there was a bit of  commotion and people started to run. At first we weren’t sure what was happening…. I could hear popping sounds – and obviously that was gunfire and we didn’t realise it at the time – and then people were running, it was like a stampede. All of the people working in the casino – they all got down behind the card tables. So now we are on lockdown in our hotel rooms.”

The Department of Foreign Affairs says it’s not aware of any Irish people caught up in the Vegas shooting.

They’re closely monitoring the situation as it develops.
