307 Cases Of Covid-19 Confirmed In The Republic

307 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed today in the Republic, the highest daily total since early May.

One more person has died with the virus, taking the death toll to 1,778.

The total case number since the beginning of the pandemic here in the Republic has passed 30,000 for the first time.

182 of today’s cases are in Dublin, and the Acting Chief medical Officer says at least 44 of those are linked with community transmission.

Elsewhere, 25 cases are in Kildare, 19 are in Limerick, 15 in each of Wexford and Louth, the remaining cases are spread across 16 different counties.

The majority of these cases are associated with known outbreaks or are close contacts of a confirmed case.

Younger people continue to account for the vast majority of cases, over 7 in 10 of today’s figures are in people under 45.
