Dave Evans the original lead singer with AC/DC has refuted a long-running myth concerning axeman Angus Young.
Speaking to The Metal voice about lead guitarist Angus Young’s formative days with the rockers, Evans debunked the legend of the school uniform.
According to Antimusic, it was always believed that Angus was only 16-years-old and still a schoolboy when the band began. However, when Evans was quizzed about the myth a different story unfolded:
“Angus was about 19 years old . We put his age down to 16 years old because he was so little .George Young wanted us to look different from the other bands in Australia.”
Evans continued, “so they told us Angus was going to wear a schoolboy outfit put his age down to 16 to relate to the kids, as we had lots of school gigs at the time. The school boy uniform was made for him by his sister. Angus was not going to school, he had a job he was 19 years old!”
