Airbnb says clamping down on short-term lettings will not fix Ireland’s housing crisis.
Under new regulations, property owners will have to apply for commercial planning permission if they want to rent out their entire property to tourists.
Landlords may then be subject to water charges and insurance costs.
Airbnb says there are ten times as many vacant dwellings in Ireland than active listings on Airbnb.
It believes the Government proposals will hurt local families, limit consumer choice and damage local economies.
