Gardai from the Emergency Response Unit have been ordered into police the town of Drogheda. That’s as feuding gangs threaten to kill Gardai.

The ERU is patrolling Drogheda to support local officers as they try to control the outbreak of violence. According to the Mirror, sources have admitted that the unit is spread thin due to other operations and is only dispatching one patrol car to the town in Louth.

This follows a wave of incidents connected to a bloody feud that has seen kidnappings, petrol bomb attacks, shootings and dozens of assaults. The ongoing feud is two between fighting drug gangs located at the Moneymore and Cement Road areas of Drogheda.

It’s been reported that credible threats had been made against two officers investigating the gang feud.
