Beck has just released an interesting new video for the title track, “Colors” off the singer’s newly released album. The video has taken inspiration from trendy ASMR videos which went viral on Youtube this year.

‘ASMR’ is an acronym for ‘autonomous sensory meridian response’ and the phenomenon went viral on Youtube this year. ASMR videos are said to give people a strange tingling feeling in their neck and head. With some saying it makes them extremely relaxed and helps them to destress. The most popular ASMR videos are of people whispering and making sounds with their mouths. Brushing hair is also a popular one. But visual ASMR is also out there – flipping pages, sketching, touching goo etc. You just need to look at the Youtube comments on Beck’s new video to see that people find it satisfying.

Beck’s new video mimics the popular trend with his own version of a slime simulator. Check it out below!

11 tracks are featured on the new album, which was released on Friday. Beck has described it as “simple and uplifting and galvanizing, where the spirit moves you, that kind of feeling. Those are the hardest. This new record I focused on that feeling. It’s the easiest to fail at. Or to come off on one hand disingenuous, or on the other hand just trite, or, you know, there’s that fine line between platitude and just the truth. And that fine line between making a big commotion and a bunch of movement and just actual unadulterated joy.”
