Beast Bites As Sporting Fixtures Called Off

Both the Beast from the East and Storm Emma’s collective force has resulted in a number of sporting fixtures to be postponed.

GAELIC GAMES

All 33 of this weekend’s Allianz National League games have been postponed due to the adverse weather conditions. The fifth round of Hurling League games will now be played next weekend with quarter-finals moved to St Patrick’s weekend.

The semis will be played a week later with the final pushed back to the 31st of March. Round Five of the Football League will be rescheduled for the weekend of March 11th.

RUGBY

Tomorrow’s rugby union Pro14 matches at Edinburgh and Cardiff Blues have also fallen victim to the snow.

Irish Rugby have called off all of their weekend’s Ulster Bank Rugby fixtures.

RUGBY LEAGUE

Tonight’s rugby league Super League clash between Hull KR and Castleford has been postponed because of the weather. The decision was made with temperatures expected to drop to as low as minus 6 degrees celsius.

Tomorrow’s match between Leeds and Catalans (pron: catalan) Dragons has also been called-off. Wakefield against Huddersfield has been rearranged for Sunday.

RACING

Meanwhile, today’s race meetings on the all-weather tracks at Kempton and Newcastle were abandoned. Sunday and Monday’s cards at Leopardstown have been called off.

DARTS

This evening’s PDC Premier League darts in Exeter also won’t go ahead because of safety concerns.
