Gardaí arrived today at a beauty salon in north Dublin which contravened level five restrictions to re-open its doors, citing its concerns about mounting bills and a need to survive.

C and N Beauty Rooms in Balbriggan is completely booked out both today and tomorrow.

A statement placed in the salon’s window explains that they’re reopening as they have a right to earn a living.

Owner Christine McTiernan says she can’t afford to stay closed any longer.

This is for me, I have to do what I have to do to pay my bills and that’s what’s important to me. I have to put food on the table I have to pay my rent. All my bills have to be paid‘.

I have to put food on the table. I have to pay my rent. All my bills have to be paid.

What is happening does not stop my bills from m coming so I have to pay them. So yes, it is purely for survival I am doing this.”
