Billy Joel, the ever-resilient architect of American rock piano, has announced a necessary pause in his touring schedule, shifting upcoming performances by four months as he undergoes surgery and subsequent rehabilitation.
A statement accompanying the news confirms that Joel will be in recovery for an undisclosed medical procedure, followed by a period of physical therapy. The vast majority of affected dates—across both the United States and the United Kingdom—have been successfully rescheduled, with Milwaukee remaining the only exception.
"While I regret postponing any shows, my health must come first," Joel affirms. "I look forward to getting back on stage and sharing the joy of live music with our amazing fans. Thank you for your understanding."
For those already in possession of tickets, there is no cause for concern; all passes will be honoured on the new dates, which are listed in full below.
This latest announcement follows a minor yet noticeable incident on Feb. 22, when Joel took an unexpected tumble onstage during a performance in Montville, Connecticut. Ever the professional, he quickly regained his footing and completed the show, though the moment left some fans uneasy.
Additionally, in January of this year, Joel postponed a Florida concert due to a prior medical procedure, the nature of which remains unspecified.
