A temporary restraining order granted against Ricky Martin has been dropped, after his nephew withdrew previous claims that the singer sexually abused him.
A restraining order had been granted after Martin’s nephew Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, accused his uncle of sexual abuse.
This restraining order was granted under the Domestic Abuse Prevention and Intervention Act. Martin had also denied these allegations. He branded them “completely false”.
“The allegations against Ricky Martin that lead to a protection order are completely false and fabricated”, his representatives had also said at the time. “We are very confident that when the true facts come out in this matter our client Ricky Martin will be fully vindicated”.

Attorneys for Martin have now stated that the case was dismissed at a court in Puerto Rico yesterday (July 21). They also insisted that the allegations were without foundation.
Speaking outside court, they had this to say.
“The accuser confirmed he was satisfied with his legal representation in the matter. The request came from the accuser asking to dismiss the case”, Ricky Martin’s lawyers said.
They also added, “This was never anything more than a troubled individual making false allegations with absolutely nothing to substantiate them. We are glad that our client saw justice done and can now move forward with his life and his career”.
Ricky Martin also shared this statement via Twitter. The ‘Livin La Vida Loca’ singer added the caption, “Truth prevails”.
The singer also addressed the court victory via a pre recorded video.
“I wish him the best and I wish he finds the help so he can start a new life filled with love and truth and joy and that he doesn’t hurt anyone else”, Martin said.
Having released his last album in May 2020 with, ‘Pausa’, Ricky Martin’s latest EP ‘Play’, is set to be released later this year.
He is of course known for a certain hit in 1999, ‘Livin La Vid Loca’. He also had success with the track ‘She’s All I Ever Had’.
