Western Building Systems, the company at the centre of a controversy regarding school structures, has said they’ve only been invited to visit 4 of the 42 schools identified as having problems.

WBS has met with representatives from both of the school buildings that have been shut over safety concerns. Western Building Systems produced a statement today outlining key points they want to cover and have repeated their request to meet the Education Minister.

The company wants to discover why schools previously deemed compliant by the department now are not considered so. They also want to see all the reports from previous Department inspections.

WBS also says they have been granted 42 out of 80 tenders by the department since 2005. The company stated they are doing a full audit of WBS schools not because of concerns but to ensure standards.
