Damien Dempsey has announced a show at Vicar Street this December. Tickets go on sale this Friday. This year marks the 18th anniversary of Damien Dempsey first solo album They Don’t Teach This Shit In School. Full details are below.
Following his sold-out outdoor show at this year’s Ivy Gardens, Damien Dempsey makes his highly anticipated return to Vicar Street, 22nd & 23rd December 2018. Tickets will go on sale Friday 7th September at 9 am.
Damien Dempsey’s importance as a singer and songwriter of great passion, conviction and beauty has never been more prominent. Dempsey achieves a feeling at his concerts that other artists can only dream of. His connection with his audience is so palpable the most cynical of souls cannot help but be moved by the experience.
For Dempsey, people and place are king. His voice is Dublin yet wholly distinctive, almost clichéd to say it, but he is part of a rich bloodline of Irish singers from Luke Kelly to Ronnie Drew, Christy Moore to Andy Irvine. Their influences outside of Ireland range from Springsteen and Guthrie, to Dylan and Marley.
Damien is currently working on a brand-new album which is due very soon. Tickets cost €32.50 inclusive of booking fee – on sale this Friday at 9am.
