Dublin Airport passengers have criticised plans to introduce charges for people to pick up or drop off outside the terminals.

The Drop Off and Pick Up Zone is in the works, but it won’t be introduced during the current pandemic.

The DAA confirmed it has applied for planning permission for the system, which would see people charged for using the set down points outside Terminals 1 and 2.

Currently, cars can drop off passengers in those areas but they can’t pick them up, something the DAA says has been abused for several years.

Airport bosses say it’s to encourage more passengers to use public transport services, but these people don’t think they are sufficient enough:

The DAA adds that a free drop off and pick up zone will still operate but in one of the long term car parks.

It says all funds picked up from the system, if its approved, will go towards sustainability projects.
