Deliveroo drivers who were going about their business as per usual were met with a barrage of hostility and general yobbery by a group of teenagers on Wednesday night in Dublin city centre.

Footage circulating on social media reveals a group of teenage boys and a group of Deliveroo delivery drivers trade insults at one another amid some thrown flying bicycles.

The disaffected youth shout at the drivers to “face them”, with one especially pumped up scallywag flexing his exposed torso flinging strewn bicycles at one drivers whom he claimed had spat at him. The young brave saying “me and you, one-on-one big man”.

Many of the drivers colleagues surround him in protective solidarity and beseech him to refrain from such unruly behaviour while innocent members of the public and motorists are left to figurately tip-toe around the impasse.

Just before this, a bystander from the public can be heard shouting “They’re only kids. Leave it! They’re only kids.” The five minute long footage is ended when a Garda siren can be heard approaching the scene.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána told Buzz.ie “Gardaí attended an incident of public order that occurred on Westmoreland St, Dublin 2 on the 20th Feb 2019 at approximately 9.50pm. A man in his 40s was arrested and taken to Pearse St Garda station.”

Deliveroo responded to lovindublin.ie “We are aware of this incident and we are investigating. Riders work hard to bring customers amazing meals and should be able to do so without being subject to harassment or threats of violence.”
