Ever wanted to get to know your favourite musicians that little bit better? Well now you can, thanks to Netflix and their music documentary series.
The streaming giant has an abundance of documentaries throughout their service, however, the music ones tend to stand out to us and we're sometimes overwhelmed by choice!
We at Nova, have picked the top five music documentaries you urgently NEED to watch on Netflix right now...
1. George Harrisson: Living In The Material World
Martin Scorsese's three-hour documentary of the Beatle's George Harrison is one of the best pieces of works we have come across. The documentary focuses on Harrisson's years with The Beatles and his 'post-beatles' life but there are also contributions from Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr - it's quite an interesting one.
2. Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster
They may be one of the world's biggest metal bands but they have also been through the ringer. From group therapy and rehab stints, there is nothing left untouched in this excellent documentary and to top it off, it's pretty funny at times too.
3. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers: Runnin' Down A Dream
Whether we like to admit it or not, we all love a bit of Tom Petty - and this documentary shows how the band went on to hit the big time. It's a four-hour long piece so make sure you have plenty of popcorn, but we guarantee it's worth it for the music alone.
4. Janis: Little Girl Blue
It's the rock 'n' roll documentary you've all wanted to catch as one woman steps into the 'boys only' club of the 60s and 70s. Janis Joplin changed the face of rock 'n' roll and this documentary sees her complete a takeover right up to her tragic death.
5. History Of The Eagles
If you like Metallica's documentary, we're pretty sure you're going to love this one too! The piece goes through the profiles of each band member, showcasing their fights and pretentiousness at times. One can even see this taking place mid-concert no less!!!
Let us know what you think of them!
