Blakestown Murder

Garda patrols in Dublin are being ramped up over Christmas following the murder of 34-year-old Eric Fowler in Blanchardstown.

It’s hoped the extra security will reassure locals concerned over possible reprisals.

The scene of the shooting at Blakestown Cottages remained sealed off yesterday as forensic examinations continued.

Eric Fowler worked as a local car valet and was well known in the area, he leaves behind a partner and young children.

Gardai say it’s too soon to determine the motive behind his murder.

However possible lines of inquiry include disputes between local crimes gangs in Blanchardstown and Finglas or connections to the Hutch-Kinahan feud.

Superintendent Liam Carolan addressing a briefing in Blanchardstown Garda Station, confirmed extra Gardai have been drafted in.
