Fianna Fáil - Cllr. Pip Breen - Wexford

Wexford County Councillor Pip Breen who described the Chief Executive Officer
at the Office of the Planning Regulator Niall Cussen as a “n***** in the woodpile” during a heated council debate about the county development plan has been wholly contrite and shocked at his own use of the archaic and perjorative term.

The Fianna Fáil councillor said he was “mortified” after he made the remake and said he would like to “sincerely apologise” to Mr Cussen.

I used a very unfortunate remark which I don’t know where it came from or how it came from into me(sic) head and I used it, but I immediately withdrew it and apologised for using it. Its a remark I never used before and I don’t where it came from!”

Mr Breen’s comments straddle the anger of fellow councillors in Wexford amid objections to their country development plan by the Planning Regulator.

Mr Cussen’s office is seeking significant reduction of one-off rural houses and calling for greater voloumes of high-density residential housing in towns and villages.

Wexford councillors argue the infrastructure is not in place to plan for additional residential construction in built-up areas.
