A leading economist says that the Fiscal Advisory Council is right to advise against cutting taxes.

The Council’s latest report recommends that three and a half billion euro is the most that should be added to next year’s Budget spending.

It says despite the economy doing well we still need to be careful with our money.

UCD economist Colm McCarthy says there are too many uncertainties like Brexit and American policy that could impact our economy.
