Five men have been charged with organised crime offences in connection with a violent attack in west Dublin, during which a man was falsely imprisoned and had the word "RAT" branded onto his face and torso.
The incident is alleged to have taken place at a home on Sheephill Avenue, Blanchardstown, on 12 February.
The accused are: Jason Hennessy Jr (28), Devon Hennessy (29), Brandon Hennessy (22) — all of Sheephill Avenue, Blanchardstown. Kenneth Fitzsimons (45) andDean Fitzsimons (24) — both of Castlecurragh Vale, Dublin 15
They are facing multiple serious charges, including causing serious harm, false imprisonment, and producing an article during a dispute.
Brandon Hennessy is specifically accused of restraining the victim while the branding was carried out. Jason Hennessy Jr and Dean Fitzsimons face identical charges alleging they branded the man’s face and torso.
Meanwhile, Kenneth Fitzsimons and Devon Hennessy are accused of assaulting the victim in preparation for the branding.
Gardaí also allege that all five men were acting as part of a criminal organisation.
None of the accused have entered a plea. They have been remanded in custody and are due to appear in court again next Tuesday.
