Foster the People’s latest music video features Precious actress Gabourey Sidibe.

Thank goodness for quirky, creative bands like the Black Keys and Foster the People who still know how to make random, mesmerizing music videos that don’t rely on too much commercial hoopla. Just a rock band, a good idea and a dizzying amount of energy– that’s what you’ll find in Foster the People’s latest video for, “Don’t Stop (Color on the Walls),” off their current album, Torches, which debuted today Dec. 8 on MTV.com. (If you’re curious to check out the Black Keys’ latest video for, “Lonely Boy,” go here.)

The funky guys of Foster the People bring together a rusty hatchback, a high-speed car chase, a possible love story and Precious actress Gabourey Sidibe, and it all somehow makes sense. Frontman Mark Foster plays a crooked driving instructor who flees the scene with a bag full of cash from the Department of Motor Vehicles, and Sidibe acts as his naïve getaway driver. The fuzz tails the dangerous duo through their small town, to the result of much chaos. Things, of course, get messy, with the getaway car jetting through red lights, raging through intersections, running other cars off the road and, in a desperate move, covering their car in paint before the cops finally catch on. Did we mention that this all goes down in less than three minutes?

The clip wraps in chaos, but not before a momentous heated kiss between Sidibe and Foster. From beginning to end, the whole thing is fun, quite ridiculous and charmingly melodramatic. All along, the band’s shiny, poppy alternative rock chugs along. Watch the video for “Don’t Stop,” below, and give your thoughts on it in the comments section.
