Gallagher's Mum Persuaded Liam To Embrace Hall Of Fame Induction
Liam Gallagher has revealed that his 'mummy' Peggy urged him to put his long-running criticism aside and attend the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2026 ceremony, where Oasis are set to be inducted.
The Manchester band will officially enter the Rock Hall at a ceremony in Los Angeles on November 14, after making it into the performer category on their third nomination, having previously been shortlisted in 2024 and 2025.
Liam, who has repeatedly dismissed the institution in the past, suggested he may have even “manifested” this year’s induction through what he described as “reverse psychology vibes.”
However, when a fan questioned his apparent change of heart, he jokingly credited his mum with setting him straight — saying she told him to “stop being a d**k” and accept the honour.

The frontman struck a notably more appreciative tone following the announcement, writing: “I wanna thank all the people who voted for us it’s a real honour ever since I was a little kid and singing in the shower.”

He later confirmed that both he and his brother Noel Gallagher would attend the ceremony, adding: “We’re soooooo proud and humble.”
The Class of 2026 was unveiled during a special episode of American Idol, with Ryan Seacrest and Lionel Richie announcing the inductees live on air.

Oasis are among eight artists entering in the main performer category, alongside Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Joy Division / New Order, Sade, Luther Vandross and Wu-Tang Clan.
The joint induction of Joy Division and New Order marks only the third time the Hall has honoured two bands with overlapping members together, following Parliament/Funkadelic in 1997 and The Small Faces/The Faces in 2012.
This year’s list also highlights how long some artists have had to wait for recognition.

Oasis, Iron Maiden and Joy Division/New Order all got in on their third attempt, while Sade and Billy Idol succeeded on their second nominations. Phil Collins, meanwhile, had already been inducted as part of Genesis but makes it this time as a solo artist.
Beyond the main performers, a further 10 names will be honoured through special categories, bringing the total number of inductees to 18.
Early influence recipients include Celia Cruz, Fela Kuti, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte and Gram Parsons. The musical excellence award will go to Linda Creed, Arif Mardin, Jimmy Miller and Rick Rubin, while Ed Sullivan will receive the Ahmet Ertegun Award.
Notably, eight of this year’s inductees are being honoured posthumously, including Luther Vandross, Celia Cruz and Fela Kuti. Parsons, who died aged just 26, is the youngest among them, while Cruz lived to 77.

There were 17 nominees in total this year — more than ever before — meaning several high-profile names missed out. Those not inducted include The Black Crowes, Jeff Buckley, Mariah Carey, Melissa Etheridge, Lauryn Hill, INXS, New Edition, P!nk and Shakira — with New Edition notably winning the fan vote but still failing to secure induction, underlining that public voting is not the deciding factor.
With the ceremony approaching, attention is now turning to whether Oasis will perform on the night — and whether the long-standing tensions between Liam and Noel remain firmly in the past.
Their recent reconciliation ahead of a reunion tour has already shifted expectations, with both now confirmed to attend together.
For Liam, the turnaround is particularly striking. Back in 2024, when Oasis were first nominated, he famously lashed out at the institution, writing: “Fuck the Rock n Roll hall of fame its full of BUMBACLARTS.”

He also joked at the time: “The little fella loves hanging out with celebrities so he’d prob go; as for me I’m washing my hair and having a pedicure and a manicure.”
Now, with a nudge from his mum and a rare moment of unity with his brother, the frontman appears ready to embrace the occasion — marking a full-circle moment for one of Britain’s most iconic bands.
