There’s an appeal for witnesses to come forward after a Garda station in north County Monaghan was heavily damaged by fire early this morning.

Firefighters and gardaí were called to the scene in the town of Emyvale, a few kilometres from the border about half past five.

Nobody was hurt in the blaze, and the scene’s been cordoned off for a forensic investigation.

It’s not yet clear how the fire started, and gardaí are appealing for witnesses or passing drivers in the area between 3am and half five.
