Gardaí are looking into an aggravated burglary which took place in a house in Clane, North Kildare. Three people broke into the house while it was empty. A man had returned home, before being held at knifepoint by one of the burglars. The gang then fled the property with a sum of money.
Gardaí at Naas Garda Station are investigating this aggravated burglary and are encouraging witnesses to come forward. They released the following statement.
Garda Statement on burglary:
A Garda spokeswoman said,“Gardaí are investigating an aggravated burglary that occurred at approximately 9pm on Tuesday, January 5, at a residence in Clane, Co Kildare”.
The spokeswoman also said, “It’s reported a sum of cash was taken. No injuries to persons or damage to property was reported. No arrests have been made to date and investigations are ongoing”.
Gardaí investigate another incident in North Kildare:
As well as the burglary. Gardaí also issued a statement following another incident in North Kildare, where a man died following an alleged assault. The victim’s name was Mark Loughlin. He was 29 years old.
The Garda spokesperson said, “Gardai at Naas Garda Station continue to investigate all the circumstances of a fatal assault and associated incidents which occurred in the Allenwood area of Co. Kildare in the early hours of Sunday morning, 3rd January 2021”.
They added, “Information in relation to any incidents which occurred in the Allenwood South area between 12am and 4.30am, including the fatal assault on the male at Allenwood South”.
They are also interested in finding information on a Silver Audi which was reportedly involved in a collision with another vehicle in the area, around the time of the fatal assault. More here.
