A convicted rapist was ‘tasered and arrested’ after a 15-hour stand off with Gardaí yesterday.
Armed cops were called to St Marks housing estate in Clondalkin at around 9am.
The sex offender, aged in his 50s, had been reported as being armed in the home.
He has previously served a long prison sentence for rape.
The Emergency Response Unit and the Armed Support Unit were called to the scene.
Gardaí asked for a media blackout while they dealt with the incident.
It ended “peacefully” after gardaí burst into the home at 1am.
A garda spokesman said: “The Media Blackout requested yesterday has been lifted.
“The incident has been resolved peacefully.
“A Taser device was used and the matter has been referred to the Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission (GSOC).
“One individual (male) was involved in this incident and was arrested and is currently in Garda custody.”
