Go Ahead Ireland has acknowledged that certain bus services in its name have recently experienced 'frequency' issues.Its apologised to customers.
The company's ironic moniker was first exposed when it was hit with more than €3m in performance-related fines in 2022. A lack of mechanics has being blamed for buses now showing up in the Greater Dublin Area.
It went on to say that it has been running a dedicated mechanics recruitment campaign in a bid to address shortfalls in mechanic numbers.
Go Ahead Ireland says it expects the situation to improve; "we have begun to see service improvements and expect to see continuous improvements each day, leading to the resumption of a normal level of service on impacted routes within the next two weeks."
Passengers have been complaining for weeks about disappearing services or so called 'ghost buses'.
It's affecting many Go Ahead Ireland routes including Liffey Valley to UCD, the Square to Blackrock and Bray to Greystones.
Dublin South West TD Paul Murphy told the Dáil last night that commuters can't trust the service;
"I'm not talking about a ghost bus here or there. In some cases half the buses have been cancelled leaving people late for work, for school, for college."
