The Government is looking at an extended mid-term break for schools at the end of this month.

The Irish Indpendent is reported schools would close from the 23rd of October until November 9th.

Ireland Editor with the paper is Fionnan Sheahan says the idea behind it is to restrict the movement of children for two weeks.

It is among a number of measures that will be discussed by a Cabinet Committee on Covid 19 today.

The group is also examining whether new fines can be introduced to penalise people from breaking Covid rules such as leaving a country that is under lockdown.
