Household visits will be banned from midnight tonight for the entire country.
Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal will move to level 4 restrictions.
This means shops selling non-essential goods will not reopen tomorrow and all non-essential workers are to work from home.
The rest of country remains on level 3.
Households will be banned from having guests except on compassionate grounds or for childcare.
The Government believes the measure could be a “gamechanger” while it tries to combat public compliance.
The CMO remarked that workers were “creeping back into offices” and continues to urge people to do their part and work from home when possible.
The restrictions in the border counties will be in place until November 10th.
