Irish Water is preparing to issue one million refunds in the coming weeks. The utility is advising customers who’ve moved house to contact them with their new address.
For the most part, customers won’t have to do anything to get their money back.
Yvonne Cahill is with Irish Water:
“For the large majority of customers, they won’t need to take any action, Irish Water will issue cheques to the account holder at the address we have on file which is where the bills were sent to..”
But if your circumstances have changed, for example if you’ve moved house, you do need to get in touch;
“They should do so at our contact centre number which is 1850 448 448.”
The Government is expected to enact legislation allowing refunds by the end of the month, with refunds due shortly after, so hopefully, it might just be in time for Christmas.
