A woman who posted a photo online of one of the two boys who murdered Ana Kriègel has been handed an 8-month sentence, which was suspended in full.

Hazel Fitzpatrick, from Easton Road, Leixlip, Co Kildare, said she knew she shouldn’t reveal his identity but never expected the gardaí to come knocking on her door.

The day after BOY A and BOY B were convicted of murdering Ana Kriegel, Hazel Fitzpatrick shared a photo of one of them on her Facebook page with the caption:

Name and shame the c**ts. Justice was served but they should never be allowed see daylight again. Two sickos

By doing so, she was in breach of the Children Act. A court order prohibiting their identities from being revealed was also made – and she was aware of that.

She said she posted it because she was angry and upset and thought it was wrong that their identities were protected.

In handing down an 8-month sentence, the judge said such an ‘utter contempt‘ of the law had to be marked so people would know there are consequences.

The sentence was suspended in full.
