Video: The Killers Cover Wonderwall In Tribute To Liam Gallagher

The Killers invoked the eternal spirit of the Gallagher brothers last Sunday night (March 20th) when they covered Oasis’ ‘Wonderwall’. That was during their show at Lollapalooza Chile, you can watch Brandon paying tribute to Liam below.

According to the NME, Liam Gallagher was forced to cut his own Lollapalooza set short due to a severe chest infection. The Killers incorporated the 1995 Oasis hit into their headlining set on Sunday as a heartfelt tribute to the song’s original singer.

The band have a history of covering artists who were forced to pull out of events. They have previously paid homage to Interpol and New Order. Brandon Flowers said to the crowd,

‘We heard you missed out on a couple of songs today that you wanted to hear. Before I sing this song, I would first like to say that Liam Gallagher is my king, he’s one of my kings. This is in no way meant to disparage anything that he did.’

Liam Gallagher ended his Lollapalooza Chile performance because as he said on stage: ‘It sounds fuc**ng horrific…can’t sing the tunes’ and left the stage.

He later tweeted, ‘Due to an ongoing chest infection, we had to cut the Lollapalooza Santiago show tonight short.’ The singer was diagnosed with a sinus, ear and nose infection after a European show a few weeks ago which has led to a chest infection.

Liam Gallagher and Richard Ashcroft, formerly of The Verve, will play a string of U.S concerts together in May. The six-date tour will include San Francisco, Los Angeles, Toronto, Boston, New York City, and Philadelphia.
