Watch Weird Al Yankovic Shred Accordion On Weezer's 'Africa'!

Weezer's ironic cover of 'Africa' has taken on a new dimension as now Weird Al Yankovic led his accordion skills to the live cover. The band were performing in Los Angles last Wednesday, when River Cuomo shorted out, “Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Weird Al’ Yankovic!” You can check out the epic solo below...

The curly haired King of comic music covers appeared on the stage looking like he meant business! Armed with an accordion in hand he played an epic scale in tandem with  Cuomo’s guitar solo.  He then grabbed the mic to join in on “Hurry boys, she’s waiting there for you”, before launching into the chorus. Cuomo and Yankovic then faced off with each other as they both shredded on their instruments!

Weezer first played their cover of 'Africa' last spring. That was a response to the Twitter account @WeezerAfrica pleading them for months to play it. The band obliged the fan and threw in a cover of Toto’s “Rosanna for the sheer fun of it! When Weezer performed “Africa” live in June for Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Toto keyboardist Steve Porcaro joined the band onstage for the instrumental break. They’ve since made it a feature of their summer tour setlists.

Toto then responded in kind back in July with their own cover of Weezer’s “Hash Pipe.” Guitarist Steve Lukather told the crowd in Vancouver where they debuted the cover, “We figured since we were smoking hash since before they were born, that’s the one we should do,” “This is our tribute to Weezer. God bless ’em.” Then to top it all someone has used Mario Paint to make their own version of Toto's "Africa."

Weezer are close to completing a summer tour where they’ve been supported by the Pixies. The final date of the tour will be in Phoenix this weekend. Weezer then have a couple of dates without Pixies next week.
