Michael Stipe has shared his first-ever solo track, ‘Future, If Future’ in support of the ‘March For Our Lives’ protest. You can listen to a sample of the powerful tune below.

The shared track comes in support of the global March For Our Lives protest that was held on March 24th.

The march brought together hundreds of thousands of people across the US and across the world to protest the lack of stricter gun control laws. Paul McCartney marched in New York and spoke of losing fellow Beatle John Lennon to gun violence.

According to Stereogum, Stipe has performed solo covers and compositions in the past but ‘Future, If Future’ is the former REM frontman’s first recorded solo track with lyrics.

Stipe’s Instagram post reads: “@marchforourlives #whatif #neveragain Future, If Future, this future is ours/ Stunk to high heaven lotus, nerve gas or flowers/ We’ve got the obvious, we’ve got the power/ Please don’t stare, we’re doing all we can”.
