Racist Attack On Taxi Driver Goes Viral

A man has handed himself into Gardaí after footage of an alleged racist attack in a Dublin taxi went viral.

The incident happened on the Malahide Road in Donneycarney at around 10 o’clock on Easter Sunday night.

A dashcam video of it went viral online – in it, a man’s heard using a racial slur before allegedly trying to punch the driver.

The video was shared online – Gardaí are asking people not to share the video any further as this case is being investigated.

CEO of Xpert Taxis and Chauffeurs Vinny Kearns says it can be a dangerous industry to work in, particularly if you’re working on your own.

A suspect in the case has come forward to gardai who are following a definite line of enquiry. They’re also appealing for witnesses.

Anyone who saw what happened is asked to contact Clontarf Garda Station on 01 666 4800 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
