Dublin - Hilton car park- Shooting - June 24-22

A victim of two prior shooting incidents in the last two years is now in serious condition in hospital after being shot in a car park in Dublin on Friday.

The 41-year-old victim was reportedly shot several times as he sat in his car in the car park of the Hilton Hotel in Kilmainham, Dublin 8, which is located near the South Circular Road.

He has been brought to St James’ hospital for his injuries, which are believed to be life threatening.

The hotel car park lies right across from Kilmainham Jail, which was busy with tourists at the time, and less than 300 metres from Kilmainham Garda station.

Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses and are understood to searching for a silver vehicle which may have been used during the shooting.

Last year the victim was shot twice in the back while sitting in his car, while in 2020, the man received minor injuries to his neck during another shooting in west Dublin.

A Garda statement said: “One male has been taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries. The scene is currently preserved and a technical examination is to be conducted.

No arrests have been made at this time. Investigations are ongoing. An incident room has been established at Kilmainham Garda station.”

Gardaí in Kilmainham are appealing for any witnesses or anybody with information to contact them.
