Australian pop-rockers Mental As Anything have hit the top spot in the UK iTunes chart with their Live It Up, 35 years after the song first made in big. Although released in 1985, the song was a worldwide hit after it was used in the Paul Hogan’s surprise film hit Crocodile Dundee in 1987.

Now the song has once again got help from outside the music business to get to the top of the charts. A group of Glasgow Rangers fans, known as The Union Bears, have made it the club’s unofficial anthem. The group started uploading an image of Rangers’ star footballer Connor Goodson, using Live It Up as accompaniment. The rest of Rangers’ fans got busy and the song has now got club anthem status.

The 80s hit has struck a chord with people everywhere with its cheerful lyrics and its upbeat melody. In these dark times, we could all do with a bit of 80s cheerfulness.
