R.E.M frontman Michael Stipe performed a brief acapella version of the band’s rather apt hit ‘It’s The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)’

Stipe was recording a new coronavirus safety awareness video to drive home some simple but vital messages.

According to the NME Stipe sang the tune in a new video on Twitter as he urged fans to stay safe as Covid -19 continues to spread across the States.

“Here we are. It’s the coronavirus, there are four rules to remember. Most important, number one, stay at home!”

Stipe continued in his advice that he delivered yesterday in a Saint Paddy’s day message,

“Don’t go out unless you have to, if it’s not important if it’s not an emergency [and] if you don’t have to get groceries then stay at home tonight. St Patrick’s Day, we can celebrate in four months.”

The US state of West Virginia became the 50th state to confirm a case of Covid-19 when Gov. Jim Justice announced the first positive test result Tuesday.
