The search for a missing 24-year-old woman continues this morning after a suspect in the case was shot dead.
The father of two was killed during a Garda operation in South Dublin last night.
A large scene remains sealed off this morning in Cherrywood following last night’s shooting.
Gardaí were alerted to the area after a car – a Nissan Qashqai – suspected to be involved in the abduction of the young woman Jastine Valdez was spotted in the area.
The driver, who was believed to be armed with a knife, was shot dead by Gardaí.
Investigators from the Garda watchdog body – GSOC – have visited the scene and a 171 D Nissan Qashqui was found.
Meanwhile the search for Jastine Valdez continues.
The young woman still hasn’t been found and it’s believed she was the woman who was seen being forced into a car near Enniskerry in Co. Wickow on Saturday evening.
Gardaí are extremely concerned for her welfare and anyone who can help trace the movements of the Nissan Qashqai over the weekend are being asked to contact Gardaí.
At this stage it’s believed the abduction was completely random and she didn’t know the man involved.
