Morrissey has had his say on Will Smith slapping Chris Rock during last weekend’s Oscar’s ceremony.

The former Smiths frontman has shared a meme about it which refers to a track from the band.

Will Smith later apologised after he slapped Chris Rock in the face during the awards ceremony, after Chris Rock joked about Will’s wife Jada Pinkette-Smith being bald, saying that he would love to see her in the next GI Jane film.

Will Smith apologised, while the LAPD also confirmed that Chris Rock did not want to press charges against the I Am Legend star.

Chris Rock also spoke publicly about the incident for the first time at a live stand up show at Boston.

“That Joke Isn’t Funny Anymore”

Since then, Morrissey has weighed in on this recent incident at the Oscars, by sharing a meme which includes the title of the Smiths’ track ‘That Joke Isn’t Funny Anymore’. This track arrived in 1985.

This Morrissey meme features a black and white image of Will Smith, including his now infamous facial expression after accosting Chris Rock, “Get my wife’s name out of your f*****g mouth”.

It also seems to mock the fact that both Will and Jada’s family name makes them “The Smiths”.

Following the altercation, Will Smith called his conduct “unacceptable and inexcusable” in his apology to Chris Rock.

“I was out of line and I was wrong”, Fresh Prince of Bel Air star Smith added.

Speaking publicly on the incident for the first time at that stand up show, Chris Rock told his audience, “I don’t have a bunch of s*** [to say] about what happened, so if you came to hear that, I’m not… I have, like, a whole show I wrote before this weekend”.

“I’m still kind of processing what happened”, he added “At some point I’ll talk about that s*** – and it will be serious and funny”.
