My Chemical Romance are the latest in a long line of musical acts to cancel gigs in Russia and Ukraine as the war between the two countries escalates.

The New Jersey emo band cancelled the shows in St. Petersburg (June 16), Moscow (June 17) and Kyiv (June 19), all of which were meant to be part of their long-awaited comeback tour.

“With deep regret, My Chemical Romance is cancelling our Ukraine and Russia shows in June 2022,” say the band. “We hope to be able to play for the fans there soon.”

The band joins the ranks of Green Day, Bring Me The Horizon, Twenty One Pilots, and more who have all cancelled shows in the neighboring countries over the last few weeks.

In a statement announcing their cancellation, Bring Me The Horizon wrote: “In solidarity with Ukraine and to stand against the atrocities being committed by Russian leadership, we must cancel our forthcoming dates in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine.

“Ukraine is an incredibly special place for us. We have toured and made numerous music videos there, making lots of strong bonds and lifelong friendships. We are in awe of the bravery demonstrated right now by the Ukrainian people, and we pray for a return to peace as soon as possible.

“Russia, we also want to acknowledge that the atrocities being committed by Russian leadership does not reflect the ideals or beliefs of the incredible people we have met there.

“We will be using our platform and voice to do what we can to support Ukraine in these incredibly difficult times.”

Twenty One Pilots echoed the band’s sentiments with a similar announcement, writing: “Due to the current tragic events, it is with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of our Moscow show. This news feels insignificant given the gravity of what is happening. Peace will win and we hope for a time we can visit you again. We stand with Ukraine.”
