Neil Finn has shed some light on his tenure with Fleetwood Mac.

The Crowded House lead singer joined the band’s line up following the departure of guitarist Lindsey Buckingham in 2018.

Finn joined the line up alongside former Heartbreaker Mike Campbell, and while the circumstances surrounding their arrival were not ideal, it is quite clear from his recent interview, that Finn adored his time with the famous band all the same.

Calling his involvement with the band “unexpected”, the musician had this to say on his time as a member of Fleetwood Mac.

“It was an amazing experience, like stepping into another life for a while”, Finn said on the Broken Record podcast.

Neil Finn Talks “really fascinating” Tenure

Speaking further about his time with the band, Neil Finn revealed what he learned from his time with Fleetwood Mac.

“And learning somebody else’s songs and the way they put songs together is really fascinating,” he said, “getting deep inside it because you think you know the way that songs work, but then when you actually learn them, you find that there’s more going on than you realized”.

Elsewhere, the rocker revealed that he learned what classic bands and music is made up of.

“What I did learn was that classic bands are a result of – and music is a result of – five, in that case, individuals having quite distinctive personalities musically,” he explained. “And something about that being undeniable and un-replaceable. Although, having said that, I did replace Lindsey”.

Back in April, Neil Finn had revealed that he auditioned for the role as guitarist for Fleetwood Mac. More on this from Nova here.
