The Scottish foursome have a new video for their single ‘Stand On The Horizon’, taken from their fourth album Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action.
The video opens with a fairly bleak shot, of a mucky looking coastal plain. The camera then moves into a small old-fashioned club, with Franz Ferdinand playing a live performance on stage.
The audience has blacked out faces and lift their pints in unison when drinking. Of course the band are very sharply dressed, as usual, in black skinny ties and gold jackets.
The Writer-Director Karan Kandhari shot the new video ‘Stand On The Horizon’, he has mostly written and shot short films, so was a perfect fit for the music video. Karan said he was trying to convey “a warmth in the strangeness”, when filming the video.
Director Karan talked about what he wanted to capture in the video, he told Domino Records’ website:
“An awkward look at innocence and experience. An attempt to capture a sparkle in the melancholy and a warmth in the strangeness. I hope people find it both sad and funny / hopeful and human. We either achieved all of this, or totally failed and ended up with an alternative universe version of Franz Ferdinand.”
‘Stand On The Horizon’, is the sixth single to be taken from their 2013 album Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action. The Scottish rockers played an intimate show in Limerick to preview tracks form the album. They played ‘Brief Encounters’ and ‘Fresh Strawberries’. The album received favorable reviews, it debuted at No. 1 on the UK Indie Chart.
