A guitar praised by Noel Gallagher as ‘the best in the world’ has sold for more than £226k at auction.
The custom-made ‘Silver Sparkle, Gibson, Les Paul, Florentine’ guitar was used in the recording of the third Oasis album, ‘Be Here Now’, released in 1997.
It’s thought to be the one the singer-songwriter played most often during that part of his career.
The guitar was made for Gallagher at Gibson’s custom shop in 1997 and was used for performances on The David Letterman Show and Saturday Night Live and for the BBC documentary Oasis: Right Here, Right Now.
The instrument, which fetched £226,800, was one of a number of items up for sale at Propstore’s four-day memorabilia auction, with a tambourine used by Gallagher’s bandmate brother Liam selling for £6,300.
The Gallaghers, who grew up in Burnage, Manchester, announced earlier this year they would reform to tour as Oasis in 2025, with dates in the UK and Ireland quickly selling out.
