There is ‘outrage’ in Ballyfermot today after a vaccination drive for the over 85s was unceremoniously called off today. Patients were told the vaccines simply didn’t arrive.

Its they’re unsure about when the drive can actually take place.

Sinn Féin Dublin City Councillor Daithí Doolan said via Facebook today.
Vaccinations for over 85s was cancelled today in Ballyfermot. Little notice was given to the public and no explanation was given by HSE. This is totally unacceptable. This has caused huge upset for families.
A constituent of mine who is 91 was due to have her first vaccination today in Ballyfermot Primary Health Centre. She received a call to say it was cancelled and not further date given to her or no explanation other than the clinic did not received the vaccinations.
If the public are to have any confidence in the vaccination process the Minister for Health must take control, provide a full explanation on what happened here this morning and give a new date as a matter of urgency.”

In a statement, the HSE said:

Practices scheduled for delivery this week have been contacted by the HSE and sent a confirmation email which the GP should confirm in terms of the number of vaccines required for patients aged Over 85. With this in mind, we would advise practices to arrange vaccine clinics when they have received notification of their order delivery date and confirmed to HSE the number of vaccines required.
