Parents Face Further Court Date Amid Child Cruelty Charges

Two parents who are accused of child cruelty have been further remanded in custody at Dublin District Court.

The Court heard the couple face further possible charges after a nine year old girl was seriously injured in North Dublin last month.

The nine year old girl was brought to hospital on July 2nd after being found with serious injuries at a home in North Dublin.

Her parents came before the District Court for a second time today – after their initial appearance last Friday.

The 35-year-old mother was last week charged with two counts of child cruelty, while the- 37-year old father was charged with one count of child cruelty.

An application was today made to further remand the couple in custody for a period of one week – which the defence agreed to.

Detective Sergent. Eoin McDonnell told the court they may face further possible charges. Judge John Hughes remanded them in custody to appear again on August 21st.
