Patience Required For Guns N’ Roses

An impending Guns N’ Roses record is on the cards according to keyboardist Dizzy Reed, he says the band have enough material to fill two new albums.

Some of the songs date back to the recording of Chinese Democracy in 2008, others are tracks that Guns N’ Roses have been working on lately.

Back in June, Axl Rose announced a follow up to Chinese Democracy, rumoured to be named Chinese Democracy 2. He also mentioned a possible remix album. As with anything to do with Guns N’ Roses, a little patience is required, after all it did take Axl 14 years to put out Chinese Democracy.

Axl told Revolver magazine:

“We recorded a lot of things before Chinese was out. We’ve worked more on some of those things and we’ve written a few new things. But basically, we have what I call kind of the second half of Chinese. That’s already recorded. And then we have a remix album made of the songs from Chinese. That’s been done for a while, too. But after Vegas [Guns N’ Roses is performing a residency at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino that runs through June 7], we’re going to start looking very seriously at what we’re doing in that regard.”

Guns N’ Roses recently released a music DVD Appetite for Democracy 3D: Live at the Hard Rock Casino – Las Vegas. It is the band’s first concert film since Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion Iin 1992. The gig was filmed in November 2012, during their 25 year anniversary of Appetite For Destruction. Highlights of the DVD include aerial dancers, songs spanning the entire Guns N’ Roses catalogue and the piece de resistance, Axl playing a flying piano during the classic ‘November Rain’. Maybe if Guns N’ Roses had brought Axl’s flying piano to Dublin in 2010, the gig would have gone smoother.

And if all this Guns N’ Roses talk has whetted your appetite, you can listen to Guns N’ Roses – Appetite For Destruction, on The Classic Album At Midnight, Monday 21st July, On Radio Nova.
