“Not for the faint of heart, but the potential is rewarding!” So reads the advert for Courtney Love’s previous residence which has been put on the market in her old hometown of Olympia. According to Virgil Adams Real Estate and agent, Spence Weigand the house is in need of “everything,” which is true judging by the pictures available below!
Courtney Love‘s property on the western outskirts of Olympia, Washington may be in a total state of disarray, but it was still placed on the market for $320,000. The Hole lead singer bought the estate just after the death of her husband Kurt Cobain back in 1995 for just under $450,000.
The three-bedroom, two-bathroom property is 2,302 square feet and comes with a detached two-car garage as well as a guest cottage that has almost been completely destroyed by fire.
The standout aspect of the grunge Goddess’ former abode has to be the eight-stall horse barn, which has been totally tagged in graffiti. Love’s old place is located near Swift Creek and about seven miles outside of downtown Olympia.
The estate agents have called this one a major fixer, ‘Roll up your sleeves and dive into this major fixer! It’s worth it given its beautiful, private, and storied site/chain of title! Beautiful, pastoral setting but just minutes from all amenities. Large, level parcel with frontage on Swift Creek. Fantastic barn with eight stalls and holding pens. The main home needs a ton of work (also known as “everything”).
The listing is actually labelled as pending, so it looks like an offer has been made. An official price has yet to be revealed.
Courtney Love recently guested with The Smashing Pumpkins at their 30th Anniversary show in New Jersey earlier this month. The band performed Hole tracks ‘Celebrity Skin’ and ‘Malibu’ with the singer. They are songs which were co-written by Smashing Pumpkins frontman, Corgan. She also helped out on a performance of Pumpkins’ song ‘Bullet With Butterfly Wings’. See a clip of her performances below. You read more about that epic show and see videos here.
