In 2016 the Guitarist Ireland annual Christmas fundraiser raised a staggering €25,684 for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin, thanks to the generosity of music suppliers and the group’s 8,300 members.

There are very few people in Ireland who have not witnessed first-hand the extraordinary hard work and the compassion shown daily by the staff of the hospital. Yet, we continue to see children and families suffering. Additional funding is urgently required. To that end the target this year has been raised to €30K and if you want to help, donate €2 by texting GUITAR to 50300*.

CMRF’s Gerry Cully has said: “Big thanks to Guitarist Ireland, we rely heavily on your funding. There is a constant need for pain relief pumps and we currently have a large order in place. We also want to invest in Complementary Therapy and Music Therapy. This is a new way forward for patients.”

GI’s Lesley Kane added: “We are super excited to launch our 2017 Guitarist Ireland Roadshow this year.

Watch out for live gigs throughout the country and lend your support if you can. Don’t forget you can also purchase a coveted Guitarist Ireland T-shirt at local events and music stores!”

Guitarist Ireland is a Facebook Group comprising of over 8,000 members. It was established in 2011 by Danny Carthy who wanted to connect Irish guitarists at home and abroad and of course those who have made Ireland their home. As the group has grown, it has become the go- to site for both young and established guitarists when looking for advice on products, set up issues and general guitar talk.
