A long lost Thin Lizzy BBC recording session has surfaced online.
This recording was taken from DJ John Peel's BBC show, which was recorded between 1971 and 1977.
While many of these recordings featured on the 1995 collection and 2011's box set, Thin Lizzy At The BBC, one of these sessions was never released, as the tapes has never surfaced, until now that is.
This first recording was taken from BBC's Maida Vale Studios in London for Peel's Top Gear show in 1971. The tracks from these recordings were discovered on an off-air reel tape and shared via YouTube. You can check them out below.
These tracks are as follows: Clifton Grange Hotel and Ray-Gun – both songs that appeared on Thin Lizzy's debut album, released in 1971 – plus Dublin (released as a single the same year) and The Rise And Dear Demise Of The Funky Nomadic Tribes, which would appear on the band's second album Shades Of A Blue Orphanage in 1972.
Back in May, Guns N'Roses treated fans to a live cover of Thin Lizzy's track, 'Thunder and Lightening'. They performed this track live at Japan's K-Arena in Yokohama, as part of their Because What You Want & What You Get Are Two Completely Different Things tour.
Check that out and Nova's report here.
In other news, Thin Lizzy's Scot Gorham had revealed that he has been recovering from a recent health scare, which saw him briefly die on the operating table. More on this from Nova here.
