R.E.M frontman Michael Stipe has hit back at Donald Trump recently after he used one of his band’s songs for his presidential campaign. This comes after Trump was slammed by Neil Young for the same reason.
Donald Trump used the R.E.M song “It’s The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)” at one of his rallies in Washington D.C. on Wednesday. Stipe has now taken offence to the use of an R.E.M. song and didn’t hold back tweeting “Go f*ck yourselves, the lot of you – you sad, attention-grabbing, power-hungry little men.”
It didn’t stop there are as Stipe added “Do not use our music or my voice for your moronic charade of a campaign”. Later Bassist Mike Mills chimed in saying “Personally, I think the Orange Clown will do anything for attention. I hate giving it to him.”
The band later released a statement on their Facebook page saying “While we do not authorize or condone the use of our music at this political event, and do ask that these candidates cease and desist from doing so, let us remember that there are things of greater importance at stake here.”
