Date: 28/07/11

Radio Nova, the Dublin based broadcaster, has increased its listenership in key demographics, asserting its firm foothold in the competitive radio market in the Greater Dublin area. Along with maintaining a strong weekly reach of 10%, with approximately 120,000 listeners, the station has increased it’s market share amongst 35 – 44 year olds by an astonishing 55%, with a further 14% increase amongst the 35+ age group. In addition, the broadcaster has added 33% to its housewives with dependents and increased its ABC1 audience by 27%. The station now has an average quarter hour (AQH) of almost 10,000 (9,687). The latest figures are part of the JNLR/Ipsos ratings figures, which are released every three months.

CEO Kevin Branigan said, “These figures demonstrate that we continue to increase our strong foothold in an extremely competitive marketplace, where we are steadily gaining ground against long-estalished competitors. There are rarely instant success stories in the radio business – it’s a case of steadily building audience and profile and that is what we’ve done over the past nine months. These figures bring our average quarter hour to almost 10,000, a very respectable figure for a station that’s on the air less than a year”.

Radio Nova launched on September 1st and is licenced for Dublin city, county and commuter belt (North Wicklow, North Kildare & South Meath). The station broadcasts on 100.3 & 100.5 from the Dublin docklands.
